Thursday's Thoughts...

Just a few things that have been on my mind lately....

Coastal Living 2011 Ultimate Beach House

This year the Ultimate Beach House was designed in the coastal town of East Beach in Norfolk, Virginia.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a lot of pictures of this house. The house is open for tours, with the ticket sale money benefitting the St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children. Which is probably the reason why there aren't any pictures???

Here are the pics I was able to find...

The Beach House

Sitting area...I love window seats!!!

Main living room - gorgeous natural light!

Patio seating area with built in fireplace...looks like it could be cozy

That's all I could find....hopefully they will put more pics up soon!

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Happy Friday!

What's on your Fall Bucket List?

The other day, I stumble across this amazing blog....where I found this bucket list.

How fun, huh?!?! Full of everything I've been wanting to do this Fall - it's just perfect!!

Katie, from Loves of Life, printed her list off and I loved the idea so much that I did the same. I'm so glad I did because it's really started Kevin and I talking about when we will get each checked off!

On a related note, I lit my first Fall candle yesterday - woo hoo!! And with our amazing weather, I think it's safe to say....

Fall is Here!!!

DIY Blog Cabin

The DIY network, along with their views, designed this beautiful cabin! Here's a little bit about the cabin from the DIY network's website ~

Blog Cabin is the groundbreaking multimedia experience based on a very simple idea: You Design It, We Build It, You Could Win It! This truly interactive series asks Internet users to vote on the design features for a real vacation getaway. Blog Cabin will then be featured on five special episodes of the hottest DIY Network shows: I Hate My Kitchen, Bath Crashers,House Crashers, Indoors Out, and Desperate Landscapes. Expert hosts from these series will be on hand to renovate the circa-1905 farmhouse.

The cabin is located in the picturesque town of Williamsburg, Virginia.

Southern Living 2011 Idea House

I love, LOVE Southern Living magazine. Each year they design an "Idea House," this year the home is in Texas and it is uh-mazing!!!

Here's a little bit about the home, from Southern Living's website ~

The setting: Just a short drive from both Austin and San Antonio, the Escondido community is in the heart of Central Texas in Horseshoe Bay, situated along the pristine shores of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson and spanning 550 acres of rugged Hill Country terrain.

The style: With European leanings, the home’s design principles embody the timeless charm, classic architecture, and authentic details befitting a historic Mediterranean villa. Native building materials reflect the Texas landscape and harmonize with the Southern locale.

The space: Our home rambles around a series of terraces and courtyards, making the most of indoor/outdoor living. On the main level, rooms stem from a central dining area with vantages oriented toward the pool and lake. Vaulted ceilings open the main living room to an upstairs loft and additional bedrooms. A detached casita provides a guest retreat above and a boat dock below.

So...Here it is!!

It definitely has that Texas hill country 'feel' to it!

Here's the foyer...

Sitting room...

Another view of this room...how cute is that little balcony?!?

What a cozy place to read a book....or write a blog post! Ha!! ;)

Living room, pocket doors open to connect with the outdoor living space

I love outdoor chandeliers!! Just such an elegant touch!

Outdoor dining area...with built in fireplace, of course!!

Yes, I would love to do laundry in this room. In case you missed it, I have a current obsession with Turquoise.
