Just Chillaxin'
Last weekend, Kevin and I spent all Saturday just hanging out and watching our new favorite show (Dexter...I so did not think I would like this show but, now I'm so addicted).
Yup, like I said...boring. Because Kevin is gone sooo much it's really nice to be able to have some down time with my husband, especially since he is already gone again.
Sunday we woke up early-ish made an awesome breakfast and then headed to church where our friend's son was getting baptized - Yay for baptisms!! After church we had the opportunity to hang out with some of our awesome friends that we haven't seen in a while and, we found out that one of the couple's is expecting! I know so many families that have been very recently blessed with babies and I just love being surrounded by so many little ones!
On the school front, things are going really well! Not too terribly stressed...yet - lol! A friend of mine (who graduated last year) said the key to this semester is organization. So, I went a bit OCD crazy organizing my binders, clinical materials and planner (I even made a semester long reading list....so sad, I know) but, I can honestly say that I feel much better about this semester - I feel like I can tackle it! I will be praying Phil. 4:13 all semester long!!!
Hope Everyone is having a great week!!
Don't forget LOST is on tonight - woo hoo!!

Weekend Recap ~ Kinda Sad
Our journey to see my Nana started off pretty rocky and since I am not patient, I didn't handle it so well. It's often hard for me to understand that my time is not always God's time (yeah, I really struggle with this one) and this weekend was another example of this lesson.
Thursday evening when my step-mom called to let me know the situation with my Nana, I immediately booked Kevin and I on the next flight to San Antonio. Friday morning we were up bright and early, and things started off really well - until we landed in Denver. When we arrived our airline told us our connecting flight had been canceled and it would be a few hours until the next flight to San Antonio. Since time was of the essence I was really disappointed to hear this news but, I figured a few hours would be alright. So, we headed off to Denver's USO - I did some homework and Kevin took care of some work stuff. (We are so blessed to have such wonderful USO's!!) When we headed back to our gate, we found out the plane was again delayed 2 hours. At this point, I did the only thing any emotionally upset girl could....I went to the Ladies Room and cried and cried. I was so upset. When we finally arrived in San Antonio, we hopped in the rental car and headed to the hospital. I knew my Nana was going to be transferred to a Hospice facility but, I wasn't sure when. Within 5 minutes arriving in her hospital room, the EMS guys showed up to transfer her to the Hospice house. Here's where the whole God's time is different than my time thing comes in....I was able to ride in the ambulance with her to the Hospice house and then, at the Hospice house (btw, best nurses in the WORLD) I was able to assist the nurse in my Nana's initial assessment and get her relaxed. It was such a blessing!! I was able to add little things into the care like...Nana doesn't like her feet covered, she's pretty cold natured...I feel it's the little things in life that are important so I was really thankful I was able to add these little touches. I am extremely thankful that the day's activities occurred on God's time.
The rest of the weekend was pretty emotional....I just thought I'd share my blessing and lesson in patience.

Off to Say Good-Bye....
When I saw my step-mom's number flash across my cell phone screen I already knew why she was calling...Sadly, when I answered my phone I assumptions were confirmed. We are all pretty sure that the Lord is calling my Nana home - her doctors are have said they think it will be sometime Saturday. So, I have decided to take a few days to say good-bye. I would like to ask that you please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all so very much.

I've been tagged!
So....here are the rules:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 2 to 5 sentences, along with these rules.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual book. Pick the CLOSEST!
6. Tag five other people to do the same!
And...here are my answers:
The book closest to me is The Queen's Fool By Philippa Gregory. I can honestly say that I've never been in historical fiction books but...back home (in OKC) a few of my close friends started are reading Philippa Gregory's books and they decided that I should start reading them too - lol! I love my besties!! So, when I packed up and headed back to Omaha they sent some a few of these books with me and this book happens to be the first one I grabbed.

I glanced over to where the Sabbath candle burned under the upended pitcher, its light hidden but it's flame burning for our God. "But we're not the same," I said simply. John Dee and I read together every morning like devoted scholars. Mostly he commanded me to read the Bible in Greek and then the same passage in Latin so that he might compare the translations.
Sadly, instead of reading more of this book, I should probably read some of my nursing textbooks. I'm going to make myself a steaming cup of hot tea (I'mdesperately trying to combat with the subzero temps outside) and read for a few hours before I head off to my next class.
Hopefully your weather is a bit warmer than ours but - either way bundle up and have a cozy evening!!
***I totally forgot to tag people!! Woops!****
I would like to tag the following ladies:

Such a Beautiful Day!
This morning, while I walked to class, snow was falling and it was so windy that I felt as though I was in a snow globe, the snow was just swirling all over the place! I was so disappointed that I didn't have my camera with me.
After class, I headed to the little coffee shop on campus where I ran into a few of my friends. It was so good to see them and catch up! There's just not a whole lot that tops catching up with friends over a cup of coffee while it's snowing outside!
Best of all, I was able to spend some time with Kevin together before he left for TDY. He goesTDY pretty frequently but, I still miss him while he's gone so I was incredibly happy that we were able to spend part of the afternoon together. :)
I spent the rest of the evening watching the Bachelor (such a guilty pleasure), reading some blogs (I heart your blogs) and setting a study schedule (that I really, really want to stick to).
So, I can't say that my day was particularly productive but, it was really enjoyable.
I hope everyone else had a great Monday too!

Another Cold & Snowy Weekend
I think the title pretty much gives away how our weekend was spent - lol! Luckily, we were able to get out of the apartment, walk around the neighborhood and take some pretty snowy pics. :)

Back to School
Monday I start my last semester of nursing school - woo hoo!! Yay!! I can't believe I'm almost done. Sometimes I feel as though I just started the program and now I'm super close to the finish line!! I am 110% excited! I'm just so ready to jump into this semester, finish, GRADUATE and start working!! I feel like at the end of a very L O N G race! I absolutely love nursing and helping people so I cannot wait to start working! So, I plan on making the most out of this weekend - which might just have to include a trip to my fav sushi place!I hope everyone has an aw some weekend!!

Boomer Sooner!!!
It's a great day in the Sooner Nation because today the OU Sooners are playing for the National Championship!!! Even though I'm far away from Miami, Florida and Norman, Oklahoma I am definitely 100% behind my OU Sooners in Spirit!! I know we aren't favored to win and truthfully, I'm pretty happy about that - it seems as though we do better as the underdog. So, I will be cheering on my Sooners from the comfort of my living room, enjoying hot wings and hopefully not annoying my neighbors. ;) Boomer Sooner Baby!!!

It's that time of year again...

This year the house is in Sonoma, California! And...ladies & gentlemen, I just don't think it gets much better than this one!! I can totally see Kevin and I with our lab puppy (our future lab puppy, that is) taking walks in the neighborhood, visiting the nearby vineyards, sipping wine on that AMAZING patio...cooking and baking yummy food in the perfectly designed gourmetkitchen and then heading upstairs to the luxurious master suite to have sweet dreams about my next Sonoma adventure!
Oh yeah, I can totally see myself living in this house. Ok, enough day dreaming (for now, anyways) - time to be productive!
If you can see yourself living in this gorgeous house too, you should enter to win here. Good Luck! And, if you win you will have to invite me over for a glass of wine! ;)

Orange Bowl
Last night Kevin's beloved Hokies played the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Orange Bowl. Since so many of our friends are out of town, we had an Orange Bowl party for two! We had a great time! We are big Chipotle fans and decided to make our own version for our very small "tailgate" party. And, to top off the night - the Virginia Tech Hokies won! Yay!! I had one very happy husband! :)
Kevin, cooking up a storm!

New Years Resolutions
1. Stay in shape and stick to my good habits!
2. Get up early. I am so much more productive and confident when I don't start my day off running around and getting to work at a later time than I would have liked. My goal is to start my day at my desk by 7am.
3. Don't let work and/or school stress me out.
4. Stay organized. I try so hard to stay organized and I absolutely hate clutter, but the craziness of every day life definitely gets in the way.
5. Try to stay financially focused. I'm setting a personal goal of having all of my student loans paid off in the next 6 years - it's gonna be a challenge but, I know I can do it!
