Happy Fall!!

It's finally Fall - Yay!!! I don't know about you but, it's been a great morning in the Rooney house. We got our morning run in and now we have a pretty lazy day ahead of us - which I am super excited about. Things have been hopping on the Ortho floor lately, I'm ready for some downtime!! My plans for today include - napping, baking (maybe some pumpkin beer bread and some kind of fall-ish muffin???) and, of course, watching the Sooners and the Hokies!!!

Go Sooners - Beat Cincinnati!!!!

Go Hokies - Beat Boston College!!!!

Have a great Fall weekend blog friends!!!!

Super Bowl!!

What an awesome game!!! And the Saints?!?! Woo Hoo!!! Yay for them!!!

This happens to be the only pic of the night...AND, it was after some of the girls left! :(I don't know why I haven't been taking many pictures lately....definitely not like me! Lol!

This year, I made pico de gallo, chocolate chip cookie dough dip and BLT dip - I think that combined with all the other yummy foods everyone else brought I probably consumed about 2 days worth of calories/fat - ha!! No but seriously....I was pretty glad Kevin and I did a lap around Walnut Creek (3 miles) that morning - makes me feel a little better. ;)

Another Fabulous Weekend!!

Friday - My last day at Hearthstone!! It was a pretty bittersweet day. I'm so thankful for the time I had there and for the amazing friends I made!!

After work, Kevin and I header off to Omaha's annual car show. Kevin loves, loves cars - so he was in absolute heaven and we haven't missed a car show since we've been out here - I honestly think Kevin has a monthly subscription to just about every car magazine out there!! Lol!! This year they had the actual "rumble car" used in the Batman movie - it was pretty cool.

{Obviously, this is NOT the picture I took}

Of course, there were tons and tons of other cars too....and yes, we looked at them all. ;) We had a pretty fun night!

....Kevin in his future truck - lol!

Love, LOVE Make-a-Wish!!!

Saturday - I woke up pretty early and headed off for a leisurely jog at Walnut Creek (a local lake/recreational area). It was very peaceful out - and just so gorgeous, the perfect winter wonderland! Even though it was only in the 30's, because the wind wasn't blowing (yay!!) it didn't feel too bad out. I had such a great time that when I was done, I went home, grabbed Molly and headed back out! She totally loved it!! Sometimes, I think she is a big dog trapped in a small dog's body - ha!! ;)
A frosty Walnut Creek

I had to snap this picture pretty fast - sadly, Molly isn't much of a poser. Ha!!!

Then, it was time for me to start getting ready for my Girl's Night Out!! Where were we heading??? Kona! It seems like I've been a regular at that place! Lol! After Kona, we headed over to Brix for a yummy glass of wine! Hmmm, I definitely need to add a little variety to my nights out because this Girls Night Out sure sounds a lot like this date Kevin and I had a few weeks ago! Ha! Time to find a new place!!

I don't think I took a single picture of us during our girl's night - except a picture this picture of wine ice cream

So um....YES, this is wine ice cream!!! OMG!! Seriously, I can't wait to try it!!! Yum!!

Sunday - The sun actually came out - PRAISE THE LORD!!! Even though it only lasted until about noon - I soaked up as much as I absolutely could!! That evening (like everyone else in America - lol!) Kevin and I watched the Vikings/Saints game - what a GREAT game!! Very entertaining!

Well - that's pretty much how my weekend went!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend too!!

Gooooo Navy!! Beat Army!!

I must admit that as an Army Brat - cheering for an opposing team was pretty conflicting when I first met my Sailor - ha! But now, I'm super proud to be rooting on the NAVY!! I just love this rivalry and think it's a great tradition! Speaking about the tradition of this game... how cool is this vintage poster??? Love it!!

Our East Coast Adventures

While we were living on the East Coast, we found ourselves blessed with lots of time to do tons of traveling. It was so neat to have soooo much available just within a days drive – which meant that we took LOTS of day trips. Yay!!!

Virginia Tech - Of course, one of the first trips we took was to Kevin’s beloved Alma Mater – Go Hokies!! We ended up going on “move-in” weekend which was a bit chaotic BUT we had so much fun!

Philadelphia – Kevin’s Cousin attends college there were she is a dance major – how fun!!! We spent the day with her and did a bit of sightseeing. It’s such a beautiful and historic place.

Redskins - Attended a Redskins Pro Football Game....GO Skins!!!!!

Robooth Beach – having a beach nearby is a pretty exciting thought to this Midwest girl! We took every opportunity to hang out by the coast – we even headed up to this great little beach in Delaware.

Annapolis – I just LOVE Annapolis. Honestly, I feel as though it is the place I am meant to be. Have you ever been somewhere and just felt as though you were “home?” That’s how I feel every time I am in Annapolis. One day, I will live there. J

Washington DC – we have such an amazing capital. I feel so blessed to have been born in such a great nation. Since DC was just “down the street” we went quite often. We totally did some pretty tourist-ie stuff while we were there (which now I’m pretty happy we did) like taking a guided tour of the capital building and attending a show at the Kennedy Center. I just love DC and am so glad that Kevin will be traveling there pretty frequently….I will definitely be tagging along for some of those trips! ;)

Alexandria

Capitol

Kennedy Center

Baltimore – we lived about 20 minutes away from the inner harbor so it was kind of our go to place when we wanted something fun to do. It seems as though there was always something fun going on. I especially loved their aquarium!

Virginia Vineyards – Virginia has lots and lots of vineyards & wineries – I was in HEAVEN!! We visited several of them....here are 2 pics of vines from different vineyards (I don't remember where each was from though - sorry)

By far, my absolute favorite was Blackfoot Ankle Vineyards. It was just amazing! The facility itself was a completely “green” building. The building was built with straw and covered in mud (yup, dirt and water mixed to make a clay-like consistency). Even part of the roof is “green” – literally actually, it has a working garden on it!

Here's a sneak peak inside their walls....

Just as we found out we were leaving, one of my best friends was moving to the area....total bummer! But, we were able to spend some wonderful quality girl time together. Since Kevin has lots of friends in that area, we were also able to lots of time with those guys - including seeing one of his friend's new babies (yay for babies!!) and attending a wedding....I *heart* weddings!!!
