Summer Favorites

Since Labor Day {which I feel is the unofficial end of summer} is right around the corner, I thought this would be the perfect time to do a favorite things of summer post!

Favorite Summer Movies

We rented this one a while back but I loved it soooo much that I had to include it!! It's definitely one of my all-time favorite movies!! Seriously, if you ever need a boast of inspiration, watch this movie!

I'm not even sure if there is anything I can say/write that will do this movie justice. If you've seen it then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't seen it, I highly...HIGHLY recommend seeing it as soon as possible!! Seriously, I can't wait to see it again!!

My favorite book of the summer....

I know, I know...I just mentioned the movie but there was just no way I could leave the book out of my summer favs. As much as I loved the movie, I loved the book even more!!! I'm just not sure that the movie can ever be as good as the book - ya know?!?

Fav summer treats...

Red Mango has got to be the best frozen yogurt ever!! It's one of those treats that you don't feel bad eating...their motto is "Treat Yourself Well" LOVE that!! Kinda takes the guilt out of it....which always makes the treat taste that much better! Ha!! ;)

Starbucks...*sigh.* Pretty sure they are always on my fav things list!!

A while ago, I switched from sweet tea (*tear) to Starbucks shaken green tea lemonade (unsweetened). It was a good change and I can't tell you how much better I feel now that I've cut out so much sugar. If you're considering cutting back on (or cutting out) sugar, I highly recommend it - it's hard at first but soooo worth it!

Fun Summer Products

I know I've blogged about this product before but I couldn't leave it out!! Ok so, bad news first....I can't find this product in town anywhere!! And, I'm out!!! Eeekk!!! You can get it from Amazon...though. After using Surf Spray you will definitely look like you just spent a day at the beach!! LOVE it!!

Mac's Oyster Girl Lipglass!

At the beginning of the summer, my best friend Christina and I met in Kansas City for a girl's weekend. While we were there, she introduced me to this oh-so-perfect-for-summer shade! I love it!!

OPI's Pinkadoodle. It's a soft shade of pink and it looks great on toes!! It's been my go-to color this summer.

Fav Summer Candles

I love candles...in any season, you will find a yankee candle burning in my home.

These scents are my fav this year...light them and your house will smell like a wonderful Caribbean vacation!

Guilty...

Every now and then a girl's gotta indulge in some guilty pleasures....right???

I'll start with my current TV guilty pleasure...yes, it's One Tree Hill. I know, I know....my husband makes fun of me every time I watch it - which includes last night!! Ha!!

It's like a Soap Opera with great music...I mean really, what's not to love?!?

And then there's my current shopping guilty pleasures, where to begin....

Why does she have to make such cute things??? I'm in love with everything on her site. No, seriously, e v e r y t h i n g.

Inspiration

My weekend has been F U L L of inspiration!! And, in God's perfect time, it came at a when I was in desperate need of a hefty dose of inspiration!

It all started Friday evening...while watching the news, I learned about Jonathan Stark and his 'little' social experiment. Basically, he loaded a Starbucks' card then put it on the internet - kinda on a first come, first serve basis. But then, people started reloading the card...how inspiring!! In a time when there is so much sadness happening it's refreshing to hear stories like this one.

It seems like such a small thing - buying a coffee for someone but really, it's all about the little things, ya know?!? Plus, it's Starbucks!! What a fun way to bless someone!!! ;)

Saturday, I went to the Women of Faith conference. It was fabulously wonderful. Truly, I was so blessed by each speaker and performer, and their worship team - incredible!!!! The event really was 'Over the Top.' Really, that's the best way to describe it!!

***Side note, I would love and I mean LOVE if there was an mp3 of the whole event - if anyone knows of such a thing I'd looooove it if you could pass the info my way. Thanks! ;)

Saturday evening, Kevin and I went to our favorite frozen custard place (yum!!) and then decided rented Soul Surfer. The movie was really just an after thought - I had no idea how amazing it would be, no idea how much I needed to see it, no idea how much God would speak to me through it. Seriously, amazing.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend seeing it as soon as possible. ....It's available at Red Box. ;)

Sunday, I met two good friends for brunch at the Wheatfields - which might just be the best place for brunch in town.

We had some fantastic food and even better conversation!! Catching up with good friends on a gorgeous and lazy Sunday morning - does it get better than that?!?! Nope, didn't think so. ;) Plus, these ladies gave me a HUGE boost of inspiration!! It's soooooo wonderful to know I have some amazing Christian women praying for/with me. Love those girls! So blessed by their friendship.

I think the rest of the day is going to be spent finishing up The Help while drinking green tea-lemonades (my newest Starbucks fav).

Weekend Recap....

Friday - Kevin & I headed down to Shadow Lake for their Sounds of the Summer Concert Series. It's a fun outdoor place to hear local bands play. If you're in the area and are looking for something to do on a Friday night, I highly recommend checking it out - it's perfect for a family friendly night out!

And, just a quick walk away is Freddy's! They have the best frozen custard!!

After the little concert, we rented and finally watched Just Go With It. Oh my gosh, SO funny! I'm a huge Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston fan, I thought these two were perfect together!

Saturday - the morning went by waaayyy too fast! Between meetings and tackling small projects on our to-do list, it was gone before we knew it!

Later that afternoon, I met some friends in Omaha's Old Market. With the CWS going on there was just so much to see! A big point of conversation was how it's such a great time to live in Omaha - we are all just so excited to see Omaha grow!

After walking for a bit, we settled in at Stokes. Stokes has some a-mazing Mexican food...and their margaritas and sangria are out of this world!

Oh my word!!! I'm just in LOVE with this dress!!

It's just the most perfect Summer dress!! It's just terrible that it's temporarily out of stock! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it gets stocked again very soon!
