Helping Haiti

I know we all have heavy hearts for Haiti's devastating tragedy. In addition to my prayers, I just keeping feel as though I want to help...or in some way comfort them. I feel very fortunate to know there are many ways we can send help and encouragement. Here are a few trusted websites taking donations.......

Compassion

Please visit Kelly's blog to learn more about Compassion.

Jenny Buttler from Simply Delightful Designs created this great website to help keep us all up-to-date on the current situation, as well as ways we can help.

I think their $10 Text Campaign is genius!! It's quick, easy & safe! What a great idea?!?

And, if you donate through any of these sites, please be sure to visit Kelly and let her know....she and her husband, Scott, are matching donations up to $1,000!!

Cookies!!! Well, kind of....

What kind of cookies....Doggie Cookies!! Oh my goodness, sooooo fun!!!

So, earlier today, Molly and I headed out (in the balmy 28 degree weather - woo hoo!!) to our friend Katie's house to make cookies with her and her dog Wilson. We had such a fun time!! Cooking, friends and dogs - I mean really, what a great combo!!!

Here are Molly & Wilson....it sure is hard to get dogs to pose together!! Lol!

Step 1 - read the recipe and gather the ingredients....sounds easy right??? Well, some of the ingredients were kinda difficult to find (at least for here in the Midwest) - carob chips, rice flour, peanut oil....good thing we have a Whole Foods!! Any excuse to make a trip to Whole Foods sounds great to me!! :)

My awesome friend and our host - Katie. Thanks for having us over girl!! P.S. I totally need that yummy dairy-filled dip recipe!!

Me before I got toooo flour-ie.....Yeah, why did I wear black to make dog cookies??? Ha!

The cookie dough....how adorable are these cookie cutters!! Love them!

This was 1 of 3 pans we made....does anyone (or any dog) in the Omaha area need a dog treat? I think we may have a few to spare......
Where were the dogs while we cooked, you ask......Well....

Molly was in the kitchen ON my feet the whole time...yes, literally on my feet....yeah.

Wilson was patiently waiting in the living room for someone to play with him. He is such a sweet dog!! Such a lover!!!
Hopefully, one day soon we will be able to add a dog like Wilson to our family!!

Ta-da! The finished product! (Sorry my phone camera is so blurry.)

Seriously?!? Isn't this the cutest picture you've ever seen!! He's totally ready for the cookies!! What an absolute CUTIE!!!

Soooo much fun!!! I can't wait to do it again!! Katie and I have already decided that next time we're going to choose a few recipes from the Three Dog Bakery cookbook....because most of them are (pretty yummy) human friendly treats too - lol! If you are a dog owner, I highly recommend their cookbook....I think you'll be pretty surprised by some of the recipes!

Speaking of recipes...We did not get this recipe from the Three Dog Bakery cookbook and, I'd love to pass this recipe along but Katie and I had to tweak it so much that I'm not even sure I'd be able to remember exact amounts and I'd feel so bad about passing on that kind of recipe. Next time though, I'll definitely post recipes. :)

Snow Day

More snow?!? Seriously?!? Yep, that's right! Which meant....another Snow Day for me!! Yay!!!

So...there I was, in the parking lot of doggie daycare place (where I had just dropped Molly off) when I received a call *the* call from my boss!! Woo Hoo!! So, I went in grabbed my puppy and headed out for a fun!

First stop - Long Dog, Fat Cat

It's an all natural pet food store, they have a H U G E variety! The owner super sweet - PLUS, she is from Lithuania....which is where my Dad's side of the family is from!! So neat!!

Then it was off to Molly's favorite place - Three Dog Bakery

After getting Molly a few tasty treats (and playing with Chuckles & Maurice - the resident doggies). We were off to find a super warm (as in - my dog will be going outside in subzero-temps-warm) winter coat....and while we were searching, we came across a pretty cute sweater that we (I) just couldn't pass up! I just *love* it!!!

Once Kevin got home (sadly no, he didn't have a snow day), the fun continued when we headed off to see Avatar!

Hopefully one day *soon* it will get above freezing and maybe some of this snow will melt...but, I'm not going to hold my breath - ha! Lol! :-)

.....what's that you ask? Who will the Rooney's be cheering on????

Planning for 2010

Ok, so....in a previous post I know I said how I was super excited to see what 2010 has in store for us but, in case you missed it - I think 2010 is going to be the best year ever!! In fact, I've already started putting important dates in my planner!! Which...only an OCD planning fool like myself will appreciate. Ha!!! ;o

While I do have an iPhone, and keep most of my scheduled appointments on it, I still like the idea of having a paper agenda too. Even though I really like the one I already have....I may have found one I like even better....

I LOVE black & white damask!! Just adore it!! This would really be the perfect planner for me!!

Speaking of Black & White Damask.....look what else I found.....

Um, seriously?!? How fun are these!!

Ambitions for 2010

I've never really been big on New Years Resolutions - probably because I know I won't keep them - ha!! But, this year I thought I'd put down some...

1. Grow closer to God – I really want to get involved in a woman’s Bible study this year.

2. Be the best wife possible – I’m so blessed to have an amazing husband! He definitely deserves to have the best wife ever. I’ve just started reading Love and Respect by Dr. Eggerichs....if anyone has read it I'd love to hear your thoughts!

3. Stress out less – this will probably be the hardest one for me. I stress out about everything…I mean everything. And, on the top of my stress list right now is getting a nursing job. What happened to the good ol’ days of “everyone needs a nurse” – cause they’re definitely gone. PS – if you know anyone in the Omaha area hiring a new RN (ie, no experience) let me know.

4. Get a job!! ….See above for details.

5. Saving money and paying off my student loans. Last year Kevin and I did Dave Ramesy’s Financial Peace University and absolutely loved it! Kevin has always been extremely good with money/saving/not spending….but me, not so much – ha! I’ve really turned things around lately and I’m determined to keep it that way. If I can just get my student loans paid off I know will feel soooo much better! We’ve put ourselves on a 3 year plan to pay them off and I feel really confident about it!

6. Start a family – God willing, of course. We hope this will be the year we start our family!!

7. Be Healthier - all around healthier - exercise more frequently, "eat cleaner," be much better about taking a daily vitamin, etc... I especially want to be better about all of this stuff if I'm going to be preggo! ;-)

How we brought in 2010

....Wow, 2010 has been just incredible so far!!! I sincerely hope that these first few days are a good indicator of what 2010 holds.

Since the Kevin's Virginia Tech Hokies played in the Chick-fil-a Bowl on NYE we went to a friend's house for a Watch Party/NYE Party. We had a great time!! In fact, we had such a great time that I totally forgot to take pictures - crazy!!! Ha!

On New Year's Day Kevin and I were able to spend the *whole* day together {sadly, we haven't been able to have many Kevin/Christy days lately} - it was was sooo perfect! We just hung out, watched movies and played with our little doggie, Molly!!

I have just *loved* seeing everyone elses NYE posts and I think 2010 is going to be the best year ever!!!
