Not all rainy days are gloomy....

....especially when you have fun rain accessories!!!

With all the rain we've had around here lately (including a pretty crazy storm tonight - eek!), I thought it would be fun to do a post about things that help make gloomy, rainy days brighter. One of the super fun things about rainy weather are these oh so adorable classic Burberry wellies...

or these...

...or these from Juicy Couture

...all adorable and all sure to keep your feet nice and dry!

And, walking around with either of these umbrellas is sure to make any rainy day much more enjoyable

How fun is this "purse raincoat" Great idea!

....If you like this one as much as I do, you can find it & others like it here

Of course I can't leave my sweet Molly out

*No, this isn't Molly but it is a cute raincoat and I know she would look fabulous in it! ;)

Hope you are all having a bright and cheery week, regardless of the weather!

Fabulous Girls Weekend in KC

This weekend my bff, Christina, and I met up in Kansas City. Not only is it one of the Midwest's hidden gems but it's also the perfect half way point for us.

We both arrived Friday and didn't waste any time catching up! The weekend was a nonstop chat fest, yup, it pretty prefect!

Our first stop Saturday morning was the plaza...friends, I *heat* the plaza!!!

Not only does it have fabulous shopping but the architecture is a-mazing!

Picking up a few fun items at Mac!

Halls department store....where I bought this...

I've been wanting it for what seems like forever now but, whenever I finally get around to getting it, it's always sold out. I'm beyond in LOVE. Ha!

More of the gorgeous plaza - love their fountains!

After a fun day of shopping and yummy eating, we saw Bridesmaid's

What a great weekend!! We are already planning our next girls weekend get-a-way!!

Hope you had a fantastic weekend too!

Happy Memorial Day

May we never forget what our military men and women do for us. May we be patriots who show our love for our country and our military, not just on Memorial Day, but every day. U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines sacrifice so much for our freedoms - today, especially, I would like to express my thanks, love and appreciation for all who have served and all those who are serving. I am and will always be a cheerleader for you.

To my family - as an Army brat, Sailors wife and most recently a Soldiers sister, I am very humbled my the sacrifice you all make. Mom, you have showed me there is truly no where women cannot go. Kevin, your sense of honor amazes me. John Paul, your enthusiasm about our country and its' future is inspiring.

I pray you all have a fabulous Memorial Day!!!

Busy - but still here

Things have been a bit busy here at Our Dolce Vita!! Which means I've got some great pictures I need to post - but it also means I haven't had any blogging time. Im planning to change that very soon though!

Speaking of being busy, I found this quote the other day and just love it - it's exactly where I am in life right now...

"If you're not doing something with your life, then it doesn’t matter how long you live. If you're doing something with your life, then it doesn't matter how short your life may be. A life is not measured by years lived, but by its usefulness. If you are giving, loving, serving, helping, encouraging, and adding value to others, then you're living a life that counts!"
- John C. Maxwell

Friends - I hope you all have a fabulous Memorial Day weekend !

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you...

May your Easter be filled with blessings

Five Things...

I saw this post on Tara's blog and thought it would be a great way to get back into blogging! So, here it goes...

1. I LOVE to cook and bake. I'm always searching for new and inspiring ideas. I go to a cooking class about once a week and have met some really sweet friends through the class. Along with cooking and baking is my passion for wine. It doesn't get better than a fabulous meal paired with a delicious glass of wine.

2. Second to my love of cooking/baking, is my LOVE of Travel! I just love discovering new places. Rarely to I go back to somewhere I've already been - there are just too many new places I want to discover. Here's a few places on the top of my travel list: Ireland, Thailand, Fiji, Costa Rica and Alaska. The next "new" place I visit will probably be North Dakota though...pretty exciting, right!!! Kevin and I have a contest to see which one of us can see all 50 US states first, I have two left - North Dakota and Alaska. Anyone have any travel tips for North Dakota??? I'd love to hear them!

3. I *always* have a hair clip around. Since Spring has officially arrived, driving with the windows down & sunroof open is a must. My hair is pretty long these days so, I've gotta have hair clips or my hair is just everywhere.

4. I am such a dog person, I love all animals really BUT I'm such a dog person. Soon after we adopted our little Molly, my friend Katie said that I would get to a point where I'd ask myself "What did I ever do without her; and, what would I ever do without her." She is SO, SO, SO right! That little dog has Kevin and I wrapped around her little paw.

5. I LOVE podcasts!! Ok, here's a confession - I just learned how to use my iPod. I know, I know crazy embarrassing. I've had an iPod for years now, I just didn't know how to use it. A few months ago, I made an appointment at the Apple store, walked in with my head hung in shame....and walked out an iPod whiz!! And now I can't get enough podcasts!!! My favorites are the "stuff you should know" series...and particularly the "Stuff You Missed in History Class."

If you decide to do a "Five Things" please leave a link in my comments 'cause I'd love to check them out!! ;)

Hope everyone is having a gorgeous spring day!!
