My snow day visitor

How adorable is this snow man???

Do you remember the days of waking up early, turning on the news - hoping, wishing (maybe even praying) your school's name would scroll by - signaling a SNOW DAY!! Yeah.... so that was me this morning....except I was waiting on a call from my boss. Nevertheless, I loved snow days as a kid and I'm soooo glad to have one today!! In case you were wondering, I've already had 2 cups of cocoa (complete with marshmallows) and they probably won't be my last for the day....unless I switch to apple cider - lol! :-D There is just something about hot cocoa and snow that go so well together - don't you think?

On to my visitor news...

Around 10 this morning I looked outside to find this adorable little guy......

And then later I saw him huddled up and shivering near the air conditioning units - it totally broke my heart!! I soooo wanted to help but, I didn't know how or if I should. So, I did the only thing I could think to do - I said a prayer and took a picture.
*sorry for the window screen - I took this picture with my phone & I didn't want to move too much to scare the little guy

Well, I better get back to my very important snow day schedule.....after all, Martha Stewart is on. ;)

Remembering Pearl Harbor

....Remembering all those who were lost

I am so thankful for those of you who are fighting to keep us safe and free.

....On a personal note, if you ever have the opportunity to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial, I highly recommend it.

And the puppy search continues.....

Our day started off with the intent to find our puppy.....sadly, we still didn't find the "one." I know that in God's perfect time we will find the perfect furry addition for our family. We did have a great time meeting all sorts of new and fun puppies - a little puppy time is always a plus!!! We went to the Nebraska Humane Society and I was pleasantly surprised at how really nice it is!! It was such a bright and uplifting atmosphere, definitely left me wanting to make another visit. Although I didn't take any pictures of the doggies - crazy! However, I did get a picture of their really fun, animal inspired, Christmas wreath {click image to enlarge}

pretty cute, huh??? If anyone, in the Midwest, has any tips/ideas on where we might be able to find an adult, house-broken dog, we'd love to hear it!!

In other news...they broke ground on our house!!! We went out to see the lot today and here's what it look likes so far!

This home is such a blessing - we are sooo excited and thankful to God for allowing us this wonderful opportunity.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

It's cold outside!!

It's December 5th so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised but it's COLD outside....kinda reminds me of one of my fav Christmas songs....and my newest picnik project ;)

**hint, hint Santa - my Mac wants Photoshop for Christmas ;)

But seriously, it really is cold here....they are predicting snow - which I'm secretly (or maybe not so secretly) excited about - ha!

Show Us Your LIfe - Christmas Trees

We all know, and *love*, Kelly's Show Us Your Life series - well it's time for the Christmas Tree Edition! I know, super exciting!!! ....Ok, well I'm pretty excited anyway - ha!

Since the Rooney's Christmas tree isn't quite what it usually is, I thought I'd include pictures from previous years too. On that note....we usually have a live tree and boy do I miss coming home to the smell of Christmas pine! I mean, I love the Yankee Candles' "Christmas Tree" but, it just isn't quite the same.

So...in case you missed it in a previous post - here's another look at this year's tree
Christmas 2009

And here's a look back at previous years......

Here's the tree Kevin and I had last year - Christmas 2008!
....this picture was taken right after we purchased & decorated it and since it was a live tree we probably should have given the tree a little time to settle - lol!

And since we didn't actually spend Christmas at our home last year, here's a picture of the tree where we did spend Christmas....here's the crazy story of what happened - it turned out to be the most wonderful Christmas!!

Here's a look back to 2007 - we were blessed to have my younger brother spend Christmas with us this year.
....about the tree - does a decorating idea ever look great when you imagine it but then when you actually try to create said look it ends up looking like.....well, like someone put toilet paper on your Christmas tree??? Yeah, well that's what happened to me this with this Christmas - and then I was just too lazy to take it down - ha!

Christmas 2006 - wow, what a long time ago!!! In this picture you can even see our little Advent Calendar - love the Advent Season!!

....Can't wait to see all the other amazing Christmas trees!!

Puppies!!!

...Ok, so it's really there was really just one puppy but he sure was adorable!!

A friend of mine came to look at puppies with me. Kevin and I are hoping make a furry addition to our family soon and have been looking at lots and lots of different puppies online.

Here's the cutie Katie and I looked at today.....

I mean seriously, how cute is his little face?!?!

.....so precious - huh?!?! It took some major willpower not to bring him home with me! Lol!!
Hopefully soon (very soon - ha!) I will have a playmate for my sweet friend, Katie's adorable dog Wilson! ;)

Christmas Ornaments!!

I can't believe today is the 2nd of December!! Christmas is gonna be here before you know it!! Yay! So...I thought I'd do a fun Christmas Ornament post....I *heart* fun ornaments and just think all of these are super adorable!

I love polka dots and would love to (one day) do a mini tree in lots of initial polka dot ornaments

I love Lolita martini & wine glasses and these little wine and martini glasses make the perfect ornament exchange gift....at least I think so. ;) They're exactly what I brought to both ornament exchange parties I went to last year - Ha!

Of course, I had to find Virginia Tech & OU Ornaments - Go Hokies & Sooners!

The perfect holiday treat when you are out doing all that holiday shopping....Starbucks!! Yay!!

How cute are these????

I saw an ornament very similar to this one at the symphony - I think it's just beautiful and although I'm not sure why, I love that it totally puts me in the Christmas spirit. :)

PS ....they broke ground on our house today!! Yippee!! We are sooooo excited!!! ...just thought I'd share ;)
